Chapter 1 - Gen 6 - Lyric

Piper:  "It is all your fault you know!!"
Lyric:  "What is?"
Piper:  "Mom and Dad leaving us with Grandad."
Lyric:  "Its both our faults, anyway, I thought you would be happy now SHE has gone, I know that I am - very happy!! it is just a shame that Dad had to go with her"
Piper:  "No actually I'm not happy!!"

Lyric:  "I don't get you sometimes, you hate her as much as I do!!"
Piper:  "Yeah but only because she ignores me, she is our Mom you know."
Lyric:  "Don't start me Piper, she might have given birth to us but she most definitely is not our Mother, see and now she has dumped us because she can't cope with us, real Mothers don't do that!!"
Piper:   "So what about Dad, if she has dumped us like you say - then he has too!!"
Lyric:  "It's not like you are never going to see them again - if you had behaved yourself then they would have taken you with them - but you are the one who is ALWAYS getting into trouble and caused them the most stress - you embarrassed Dad, he was getting loads of stick at work because of you, and Grandad Barney and Uncle Brice, trying to be police officers and they can't even control you!!"  They left you with Granddad because he is the only one you will listen to.
Piper:  "Did you ask to be left with Granddad?"
Lyric:  "No but I am glad they did, they left me with Granddad because I kept fighting with Mom and so that he could help me with this heir thing they forced on me."

Piper:  "You haven't told them about your problem have you!!??"
Lyric:  "It might be a problem to you but it's not bothering me!!"
Piper:  "But it is a problem isn't it when you are the heir to this family wish thing - how are you going to make babies?"
Lyric:  "I'm not!!"
Piper:  "So you should have told them you are gay."
Lyric:  "They would have just gone mental - I didn't want the headache!!"
Piper:  "Granddad Cain won't go mad he has gay brothers and sisters remember and you know Melody was only so cross with you because it was her boyfriend you were flirting with, she might have found it funny if he hadn't been flirting back." 
Lyric:  "Yeah well I will let you into a little secret, he started it, not me!!"

Lyric:  "Why doesn't it bother you, me being gay?"
Piper:  "Well at least I know you are not going to try and steal my girlfriend!!"
We both started laughing
Lyric:  "You are an idiot, you don't even have a girlfriend"
Piper:  "You need to tell Granddad!!"
Lyric:  "I will tell him when I am ready to!!"  

It has been pretty quiet around here since our Parents, brother and sisters left for the new town.  Piper has been pretty quiet since they left, it has upset him a lot more than me that our parents felt they had no other choice but to leave us with our Granddad Cain.  I was quite happy that I would never have to live under the same roof as that woman, my so called Mother, ever again.  If I couldn't see her she didn't upset me.  Piper, however, in just a few days seems to have withdrawn into himself, he isn't going out and getting into trouble like he normally does, he is going to school without me or Granddad having to force him and he has been doing his homework, shocking, but I doubt somehow this new Piper is going too last.

We were both pretty excited about the new town that we would be moving to.  Apparently there were a lot of show venues, something we didn't have in this town, venues one day I hope that I will be singing in - that's if I am every going to make it as a singer, I want to be a Vocal Legend and I can't wait for school to be over.  You don't need "A" levels to sing so I don't see the point of school for me, but like Granddad always insists, every time we have this argument, just in case I don't make it as a singer, I need some qualifications to fall back on if I don't want to end up in a dead end job.  Like any of us really need to work - Granddad has millions which will be mine anyway one day.

Granddad Cain was pretty laid back - as long as we behaved.  As long as we went to school and did our homework and got in before curfew, we could pretty much do what we wanted.  He spends most of his time painting and he leaves the house once in a while but not often.  At the moment I am enjoying learning to cook, and I am pretty good at it, I haven't burnt anything yet, not like Piper who burns everything.

Now that Piper has actually started to attend school like a normal kid he has become best mates with our Cousin Lawrence.  Lawrence has started coming home with him most nights, which Granddad Cain likes because he is getting to spend more time with him and I think Piper is really going to miss him when we move to the new town.

There was a possibility that Uncle Alex would move to the new town too but he has just got married to Peppermint and he is still trying to build a relationship with his other son Everett, so he decided like Uncle Adam and Aunt Laney that they would stay where there were for now.  I think Granddad is just happy that Uncle Alex has finally grown up and settled down.

Aunt Dixie and Uncle Brice decided to move to the new town.  Dixie wanted to stay close to Granddad and with Brice being my Dads twin brother he was happy to move to the new town, even though they are not all that close.  My cousin Juana has been phoning Granddad a lot lately telling him all about there new house and the new town.

Me and  Piper have gotten pretty close since our parents left.  We spent a lot of time together singing and playing our guitars.  I preferred to sing while he much preferred his guitar, I am beginning to wander if he will stick to his life time wish, he has already nearly maxed his guitar skill so obsessed with that guitar of his!!

I was actually pretty happy with our "new life" with just Piper and Granddad Cain, I wasn't actually missing anybody except Dad a little, it didn't even bother me that me and my twin sister were apart.  Piper on the other hand was getting a little restless, he is really missing Dad, and Mom, even though he wouldn't admit it but I knew because he wouldn't stop talking about her.

Piper:  "Grandad when are we going to our new house?"
Cain:  "Well the house will actually be ready before the weekend, I was thinking maybe the weekend after next."
Piper:  "That's too long away, can't we please go this weekend."
Cain:  "Lyric will only have four days left at school its a little silly to move him to a new school with only four days to do, don't you think."
Piper:  "I want to see Dad!!""

Piper eventually got his way and at the weekend we moved to our new house and town.

The house was pretty nice, maybe not as big as our last house and I was surprise to find it wasn't as orange as our last house had been.  Orange being Granddads favourite colour.

Of course the family graves travelled with us and have been placed out in the garden, and I still find it creepy that Granddad leaves a space for his own grave.

We had not been in our new house very long when the doorbell went.  When I went to see who was at the door my mood suddenly changed seeing my Mother stood on the doorstep talking to Granddad.

 Great!!!  She is the last person I wanted to see at the door.

Piper came rushing out, he looked really happy to see Mom.
Piper:  "Hi Mom."

She said nothing, she just glared at him then carried on following Granddad into the house.  I don't think I will ever forget the look that he had on his face because she had totally blanked him.

Piper:  "Bitch!!" he muttered loud enough for both of us to hear.

He cracked up and started to cry.  I think I had just worked my brother out.  All the while he was naughty and causing trouble he had been doing it on purpose, attention seeking, he had probably worked out at a young age that the only way Mom would pay any attention to him was to do something naughty to attract her attention, being a good child just got you totally ignored by her.

Grandad cooked hotdogs and we all sat down to eat, Piper had pulled himself together after his little crack up and sat down next to Mom.  Since she had come in she had paid neither of us any attention - more interested in talking to Granddad. 

Amber:  "Glad to see you are not in gail yet Piper!!"
Piper:  "Well it can be arranged if that's what you want!!"
He spat back at her with attitude, like the old naughty Piper was back, not the Piper we had been living with since our parents had left us with Granddad.

Lyric:  "Actually since you left Granddad hasn't had to shout at him once, he's been to school every day, does his homework and he actually has better grades than I do at the moment!!"
Amber:  "So you are still doing his homework for him Lyric."
Lyric:  "I am not!!"
Amber:  "Come on - leopards don't change their spots - he doesn't just become a genius angel over night!!"

Piper exploded the language that flew across the table at Mom was unrepeatable.
Cain:  Piper - get to your room - NOW!!!!
Piper stormed off, probably to cry some more.
Amber:  "See he definately hasn't changed any!!"

That just set me off
Lyric:  "You don't get it do you, you stupid cow!!  He only does all this naughty stuff when he is around you he does it to get your attention, because he wants you to love him, but you treat him like he is shit on your shoe, being naughty is the only way that gets you to pay him any attention."
Amber:   "Don't make excuses for him, he is just a naughty boy full stop!!!"
Lyric:  "You are not listening are you - you make him the way he is because you ignore him - YOU - I am gay and I hate women because of YOU - Harmony and Melody have their own problems because of YOU - I wish you would just DIE and do us all a favour!!"
Cain:  "Enough Lyric!!"
Lyric:  "No its NOT nearly enough!!"
Cain:  "Go find your brother, Ill be along to talk to you both in a bit when you have both had time to cool down."

Cain:  "What a mess!!."
Amber:  "They really hate me don't they!!"
Cain:  "Lyric yes, but you know Lyric was right about Piper he does only act like this when you are around him, he has been a golden child since you left - you set him off, you know if you would just give him the attention he needs you could fix things between you and Piper."
Amber:  "I am not sure I can."
Cain:  "I really don't understand you Amber, I don't know how anyone could be so cold and unloving towards their own children like you are!!"
Amber:  "Forget Piper - I just heard Lyric say he is gay?!"
Cain:  "I warned you didn't I, but don't worry yourself, I'll sort out your mess, I am ashamed to say I know you are not capable."

As soon as the words had left my mouth - I regretted it, I wasn't ready to deal with them knowing that I am gay, so why did I just say it like that and so easily.  Neither Granddad or Mother had reacted to it, I hoped maybe they didn't hear what I had said, but I know I wouldn't be so lucky.

They now know I am gay - I am just waiting for a reaction.

I have changed the way I write conversation as someone commented to me that I needed to write the names into the conversation a little more as they sometimes got confused.  I hope now there is no future confusion!!
